Balochistan to Plant 400k Olive…

Approximately 0.4 million olive trees would be planted in Balochistan during the current year to promote low water-consuming farming, aimed to fight water scarcity in the province. According to sources, the Balochistan Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) would plant 221,000 olive saplings while the remaining would be planted by Balochistan Agriculture Research and Development Centre as part of its upcoming low water consuming project. Talking to APP, Director General (DG) BARI, Juma Khan Tareen said, “it will also provide farmers an alternative crop which will help bring prosperity to the backward areas.” He added that the saplings of olive trees were…

In recent news, a team consisting of nine Pakistani students from the Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad (IST) has secured first place in the International Free Mission UAV Competition at Turkey’s Aerospace and Technology festival called TEKNOFEST. The competition was held in Busra where over 240 teams participated coming from over 85 countries where the team from IST was one of the participants. The team had developed an Artificial Intelligence-based winning solution for Human Search and Rescue operations through a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been awarded the hosting right of the 2025 Champions Trophy as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced fourteen host nations for the white-ball events from 2024-2031. Pakistan’s First Liver Autotransplantation Procedure…

KARACHI: In a first for Pakistan, the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi, performed a liver autotransplantation procedure successfully. The liver of a 28-year old patient, who was suffering from cancer, was taken out of the body, the tumor was surgically removed, damaged veins were reconstructed, and the liver was re-implanted in his body, officials said. After the successful procedure, the patient has begun to recover, DUHS said. “Our team of liver transplant surgeons has performed one of the most complex and sophisticated procedures, known as liver autotransplantation”, Vice-Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Prof Saeed Quraishy said Saturday.…
